SER-AMTA Membership Dues Assistance Program

Purpose: To provide AMTA Professional Membership dues payment(s) for SER members /Music Therapists living in the Southeast Region suffering from sudden job loss, drastic reduction in income or other financial hardship. Specifically, The Membership Assistance Program will pay all or part of annual AMTA dues for members who apply and who meet designated criteria. The application process will be confidential with only the President, evaluation committee of Board members, and Treasurer having knowledge of identity and circumstances. The Assistance amount may be full or partial payment of dues, depending on number of applicants and stated need.

Criteria for Application: The Music Therapist must hold a recognized music therapy credential (MT-BC, RMT, CMT, or ACMT), live in the Southeast Region, have been a professional or student member of AMTA for at least one year prior to application, and have financial constraints that limit the individual’s ability to join AMTA. Financial constraints may include, but not be limited to, sudden personal or spousal job loss, drastic reduction in contracts, inability to find adequate employment in the field, inability to work due to catastrophic illness/injury, catastrophic outlay due to personal/family illness/injury. There is no limit on the number of times a Music Therapist can apply and the award may be repeated once (total of two times) at the discretion of the President.

Application Instructions:
  • Download or print the MAP Application Form from the SER Website.
  • Complete application in full, providing information as requested.
  • Complete a brief (approximately 500 words) statement outlining the reason for the request and what AMTA/SER membership means to the applicant.
  • Send Application electronically or by mail to the Current President by April 30, 2011 for 2011 dues or November 1 for 2012 dues.
  • Send electronic or paper copy of AMTA dues statement to President with application.
  • You will be notified as soon as possible by the President by email or phone with outcomes and further instructions.
